Horizon 6 composer is not starting

Hi There, we just setup our first Horizon 6 platform with Composer manager and connect it to vCenter, then few days later we found out that our composer doesn't work and now we are not able to start service at all, all that we see in event viewer is - A timeout was reached while waiting for the VMware Horizon View composer service to connect.

In C:\ProgramData\vmware\viewcomposer\vmware-viewcomposer.log log file i see this messages

I've already checked ODBC twice, it's ok.

Any idea? thank you!

Hello Dmitri,

Same issue happened with us while we were in  testing phase.

domain controller : Windows Server 2012 Evaluation version ( automatically shut down every one hour)

We noticed that whenever the domain controller is up , the VMware Horizon View Composer will not start and log file contain " Shutting down fake VC subsystem"

So we try t shutdown the domain controller ( or at least dissabl the network card ), and then try to restart the service. and it works

Please if you find other solution .. share it with us

Thanks

Thank you for your response

Could you please check if windows is trying to reach ctldl.windowsupdate.com  to update list of root certificates.

According to MS KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2677070 you might have to disable this option through GPO and it should resolve the problem

If not please move to the 2nd step

To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the local Administrators group, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.

  • To turn off Automatic Root Certificates Update:
  • Click Start, and then click Run.
  • Type gpedit.msc, and then click OK.
  • If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.
  • Double-click Administrative Templates, double-click System, double-click Internet Communication Management, and then click Internet Communication settings.
  • Double-click Turn off Automatic Root Certificates Update, click Enabled, and then click OK.
  • Close the Local Group Policy Editor.

First hint from Gaurav_Baghla (previous post) solved this issue for me.

Using gpedit worked for me.

VMWare support wanted me to re-install composer 😞

Thanks.

My composer 6.0.1 server didn't have an internet connection and the service wouldn't start. I resolved the problem by adding an internet connection to my composer server.
