VCenter 5.1 Instalation

Hi,

I need help with vcenter 5.1 instalation. (No problem with sso and inventory instalation)

When i install with sqlexpress 2008 there was no problem, but when i try to install with sql enterprise 2008, i have problem.

the error message is

"make sure SQL Server Agent service is running"

i try to start sql server agent in database server but failed.

Please help

Solved,

i download the other version of sql server 2008 r2

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=1279

My previous sql server 2008 was SQL Server version 0.0.1600.22 SQL server 2008 CTP x64

why in sql express with sql agent is stop, the vcenter installation work normaly.?

i already try all kb that refer to my problem. I Can't start my sql agent? but why in sql express not using sql agent, vcenter 5.1 work smooth

Hi vmindonesia,

vCenter needs the SQL Server Agent running on an external SQL server because it uses it to run SQL jobs. The SQL jobs perform rollups of performance data to ensure your database doesn't grow too large.

vCenter doesn't record performance data when using SQL Express, so there is no requirement for the SQL Agent.

You might want to check the service account configured for the SQL Agent service, and make sure that it has appropriate permissions to your SQL server.
