VUM-Updating 5.1 to 5.5 with baselines that have host patches and host upgrades

We are currently running vCenter 5.5.0c with 5.1u1 on all the hosts.  We have (2)baselines attached to those hosts.  One of those baselines is dynamic with all the latest patches that need to be applied and the other baseline  is the upgrade to 5.5.0a.  We have not remediated in several months and I have a question.  If I leave both baselines attached, is VUM going to know to run the upgrade first and then patch the newer version?  Just want to make sure VUM does not waste time applying patches to 5.1 before upgrading to 5.5.  If there is not a good answer on this, the plan is to detach the dynamic baselines with all the patches, and manually reattaching it after the upgrade to 5.5.  Management does not like going to the latest versions and the plan is to actually update to 5.5.0a, because it is latest(without update1) from HP.  We are going to patch after that while the server is in maintenance mode, but I did not want to marge the baselines together if it might run the 5.1 patches before upgrading to 5.5.  I did exclude the 5.5 update1 rollup for our Dynamic patch baseline.

Thanks,

When you click remediate host you will need to choose the Type of Baseline, then you don't need to worry, just select Upgrade Baseline 🙂
