ESXi 5.5 Host backup

Hi vSphere community,

Curious what people are doing to backup up physical ESXi servers?   We have IBM TSM, but I'm not sure it can backup an ESX Host.

Strictly looking at ESX host backups at the moment and not virtual machines.

Any suggestions or advice?

Thanks!

You may want to take a look at http://www.virtuallyghetto.com/2013/02/how-to-backup-restore-free-esxi-host.html and the links provided in the blog post to see how you can backup and restore the configuration.

Hi,

its not necessary to backup whole ESXi image because you can provision new server in minutes...

Just backup ESXi configuration with vicfg-cfgbackup via vSphere CLI or use Host Profiles feature if you have proper vSphere license.

For more details see:

Fro older ESX hosts:

P.
