      Hi,

In my lab I am using three nested ESXI 5.5 u1 and I upgraded vcenter from 5.5 to 5.5 u1  as well, Followed Duncan Epping (YB) steps. I could not see any eligible disks. Is it something with the licenses?

      Kindly see the attached screenshot.

      Thanks

Probably your disks contains partitions or other data.

Make sure your disks are absolutely empty.

Gparted or a tool like that is easy for deleting partitions.

Can you see the disks under your host? Manage => Storage => Storage Devices

Have you claimed your disks? Cluster => Manage => Settings => Virtual San => Disk management

I'm running out of options now

Do the disks appear as local to the host? You need to use esxcli to check that the is-local flag is set to true.

If they are not local, then you will have to use a claimrule to set them as local.

                        Hi Cormac,

Disks appear as local to each host, Kindly see the screenshot,

Can you file a Support request and share us the host logs so that we could take a look at it?

Mostly I have seen similar issues either due to disk/license/Networking for VSAN related.

The vmkernel logs you have pasted didnt have any vsan related info. Host logs would be more easier for us to parse through and co-relate information.

I upgrade vcenter 5.5 to 5.5u1 I guess this will not function as I read Epping comments here  https://communities.vmware.com/thread/478605

Correct. It seems it is mandatory to do a fresh VC 55U1 install.

                                    Hi Joergriether,

Regarding VSAN needs 5.5 upgrading or fresh VC 55U1 install. This morning I talked with VMware technical support and they told me, Upgrading from vCenter 5.5 to vCenter 5.5 U1 is possible and there is no needs for fresh install . So I am on square a gain.
