VMware player 5 wont boot windows XP "Error Loading Operating System"

Hello All,

I have an issue with VMware player which i have been using for some time smoothly. I have VMplayer 5.0.2 build-1031769. 2 weeks back it wont boot up my windows XP operating system ( which i converted from a physical disk)  I have been using for a while in same set up. It says "Error loading operating system". I am running it on windows 7 pro host. On same i have CentOS and running smoothly without any problem. I hope someone can help me out to get it working. Thanks in advance.

The error message you're getting "Error loading operating system" is this coming the Windows?  If yes then this is not really a VMware issue per se and you'll need to troubleshoot it just as if running on a Physical Machine.

But how do I fix the files that are already in vmdk or vmx files. I am not able to see windows files in vmware files. How do i repair the volume in this case if it is windows operating system issue. I am not sure its windows issue but its in a a black screen scrnshotvmwinxp.png

Try to unmount any cd, floppy or usb-device you have mounted to the VM.
