Performance gain by having two NICs to same subnet?

Nearly all of my VMs go to the Same subnet.  I have a Virtual switch connected via 1 Gb NIC.  I have a couple Free NICs on my ESX host.   Will I gain performance by connecting an additional NIC to the virtual switch? What about creating a second virtual switch to the same subnet?  I know that virtual NICs on VMs are CPU bound, so I was wondering if the extra physical NIC would even help.  If the CPU is the limiter, does it matter how many NICs you have?  (My CPUs are two x Dual core Intel 2.8Ghz if that makes a difference)
