vCAC 6 - missing VM actions

Hi,

I've created a clone Blueprint and in "Actions" select all options (attach screenshot). But when I create an item based on that blueprint, I only see "Connect using RDP" and "Connect using VMRC" (attach second screenshot).

Why I can't see the other actions? (Destroy, Expire, Power on, Power off, Reboot, etc).

And why I can't even change the "Description of the VM"?

Thanks a lot,

D.

Did you verify that the service catalog entitlement included all of the actions that you require? If not, login as the tenant administrator, select the Administration tab, Catalog Management, Entitlements, select your entitlement, then select the Items & Approvals tab. On the far right of the resulting screen there should be a section titled Entitled Actions, click the plus sign and add any actions that you want the user to be entitled to.

Hi stevenbright,

Thanks for the answer, but as you can see in the attached screenshot, the actions I want are not there. Neither in the list nor in the popup when I click on the "+" button.

I also attach a screenshot with the Actions menu where you can see only 10 actions (no poweron or poweroff).

Do you know why is that?

Well, after several tests, I've decided to reinstall the hole vcac plataform. Something was wrong during the installation and I couldn't figure out what.

Thanks a lot,

D.

Hi,

I seem to have the same problem as most of my actions are missing in the vcac6.  Did you ever figure out what went wrong with the initial installation or what did you do differently in the reinstall to get everything to work?

Hi,

This is how you fix it

Go to the IAAS Server Model manager Data (Navigate it to Cafe directory in Model Manager data ) for example

Open a Command Prompt (Execute the following commands) - Please change the path to your relevant directory

cd C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\vCAC\Server\Model Manager Data\Cafe

Vcac-Config.exe registercatalogtypes -v

Hi,

I just tested this and can confirm that running the Vcac-Config.exe registercatalogtypes -v added the missing actions to the Vcac GUI. I'm still missing the approval policies menu from the Vcac GUI (Administration -> Approval Policies) link is not shown even as a Tenant administrator. Any ideas what component is responsible to register that menu to the GUI?

Hi Mikko,

Can you please send us a screenshot as what you are seeing. I can then try and provide the solution. (please login as IAAS admin and tenant admin)

Thanks,

Alok

Hi,

I just noticed that we are using vCloud Suite Standard version license. It seems to be that this version does not include approvals, but I need to get the vCac ADV license as a minimum version to test the approval rules?

Logged use has following permissions:

Approval Administrator

IaaS Administrator

Service Architect

Tenant Administrator

Yes, looks like this is the case, you need the Adv License at the least for approvals.

Thanks,

Alok

I guess my original answer can be marked as the right answer for this thread
