VMware Player unrecoverable error: (vmx) Exception 0xc0000006 (disk error while paging) has occurred.

Hey Guys,

I am getting the following error when I try to boot my Ubuntu vm on VMware Player:

VMware Player unrecoverable error: (vmx)

Exception 0xc0000006 (disk error while paging) has occurred.

A log file is available in "D:\VMware VMs\Ubuntu 13.04 Vmware\vmware.log".

You can request support.

To collect data to submit to VMware technical support, run "vm-support".

We will respond on the basis of your support entitlement.

I have tried recovering disk as described in the this article

vmware-vdiskmanager.exe -R 'D:\VMware VMs\Ubuntu 13.04 Vmware\Ubuntu 13.04 Vmware.vmdk'

But I get the following error:

VixDiskLib: Invalid configuration file parameter.  Failed to read configuration file.

No errors were found on the virtual disk, 'D:\VMware VMs\Ubuntu 13.04 Vmware\Ubuntu 13.04 Vmware.vmdk'.

Please help if anyone has encountered the same issue.

I have attached the log file and vmx config file.

hi,

According to this kb :http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=100234...

Can you check if you have any disk error on your system log event?

Regards,

Julien.

You've already attached the vmware.log file as a file, as one should, however...  It's one thing to dump a few/several lines of output into the body of a reply to highlight an issue however to dump hundreds of lines is considered rude and unacceptable and makes it much more difficult to navigate this thread!  I'd suggest you edit your post and remove the unnecessary dump of the vmware.log file!

Have removed the log output from body. Did not know it was rude.

There were no vmem or vmss files. I deleted the nvram file though.

Cannot find if there was a disk error but the laptop did not shutdown properly.
