Bug : VMware-Tools / Microsoft Windows Server 2008 HPC Edition

I have recently deployed some Microsoft Windows Server 2008 HPC Edition VM's and noticed that the Guest OS field changes to "Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)" on the summary tab.

The VM is definitely HPC edition and the VM properties has the OS correctly selected as "Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit)".

Interestingy if I stop the VMware Tools service, this corrects the Guest OS field on the summary tab ... as soon as I start the service again it reverts to "Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)". Additionally, with the VM powered off the Guest OS field on the summary tab is correct.

Has anyone else notice this behavior, and should I be concerned that this will present / install the wrong tools version when I upgrade them using PowerCLI?

Cheers,

Jon
