SRM: What happens if one vcenter is down?

Hi,

if I have 2 sites, 2 vCenter each with SRM on the same machine.

What happens if at one site, I need to reboot the vcenter (updates, etc) or it crashes?

Thanks

It should not be an issue - nothing will happen -

While configuring the SRM, we use VC ip as site pairing. If one of the VC goes down/crashes, it will not come up, DR prospective nothing will trigger, but pairing will effect.

It is recommended from VMware as well, VC and SRM should always host on different Machines (different VM).

Hello malabelle,

If VC and SRM servers reside on the same VM when VC goes down SRM service will go down too as it has a dependancy. If they do not reside on the same VM SRM server will continue running but will not be usable since VC is down. If SRM db goes down SRM service will shut down regardless of the VC.

Hope this answers your question.
