I think you could re-install WS10.0.1 after your new update of host OS..
I'm having the same problem and its driving me crazy. Some more info on this.
I have two virutal system, a linux one running fedora 19 and a windows 7 one. The linux virtual system runs fine, but when I boot up the windows 7 it freezes my workstation. When I boot up my windows 7 virtual system, the freeze does not occur until I log into my windows 7 virtual system. But once I log in, it freezes up in less than a minute.
When I my boot red hat enterprise linux system using the previous kernel 2.6.32-358.23.2, and I boot up the windows 7 virtual system, my workstation does not freeze up, but the networking on the windows 7 virtual system does not work.
One thing I'm going to try as a temporary work around is to de-install the vmware tools software package, which hopefully will de-install virtualized aware drivers, which I think may be causing the problem.
I'll keep posting to this thread as I work through this problem.
Update: I have created a support case with RedHat.
Yes, it does seem to only crash RHEL 6.5 when bootting Window 7 in VMware Workstation 9.0.3 or 10.0.1 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5. Tried a legacy install with a yum update then a clean install of RHEL 6.5 (x64).

I tested booting Windows XP under 9.0.3 also with the same result -- it always crashed my RHEL6 host right where VMware Tools was apparently starting up during login. However, unlike Windows 7 and XP, a Windows 98 guest was fine, as was a Fedora 18 guest. Then I repeated my tests with VMware Workstation 10.0.1 (including creating a new VM of XP SP3 -- no difference) and then with Workstation 9.0.2, all with the same result. That's when I finally realised it might be the kernel update that changed things, and rolled back to the previous kernel, which solved the problem -- I had unfortunately made the mistake of updating to RHEL 6.5 and VMware Workstation 9.0.3 (from 9.0.2) at the same time, so had plenty of opportunity to make incorrect guesses as to what broke things ;-)
The vmcore-dmesg.txt files in my crash dump directories point to "Process vmware" and all end with the same "Call Trace" as follows:

Thanks to the OP () for creating a support case with Red Hat. Do you or Red Hat want other RHEL6 + VMware Workstation users to weigh in on the issue, or are comments in this discussion thread sufficient?
I'm glad to see someone else having this problem. For some reason, I need to have the latest version of the RHEL kernel. This bug is driving me crazy! My world has collapsed on me since I can't run my windows 7 environment. I hope someone finds a fix to this soon... :/
(Well, I don't want to say I'm glad your having crashes... Just that I'm not alone with this problem...)

Thanks for the information. My guess is the interaction of vmware tool's 3D feature and the new kernel from RHEL 6.5. Not sure if Red Hat will try to solve this problem or not since they might say that the problem is with using third party software (the kernel module from VMware Workstation). Probably it's a good idea to open up a case with VMware as well). When I have time, I will try to disable the 3D acceleration feature to see if that makes any difference or not. Thanks.
I just tried the 2D test and my system crashed.... The bit which did happen was that it didn't crash until I logged in and my desktop was being setup. That's when the crashed happened, so I see why one would think its a video driver bug.

gsettings has been included in glib2-2.26.1-3 version which was released with RHEL 6.5 . This is causing the 'GLib-GIO-ERROR' error as it refers to schemas such as 'org.gnome.system.proxy', which are actually not present in system.

FWIW, I have three machines that exhibit the same behaviour using the 6.5 kernel, 2.6.32-431.el6.x86_64 on CentOS 6.5, VMware 8.0.6 running XP. Down grading to the last 6.4 kernel solves the issue but obviously not the best solution.

I am running rhel6.5 and am also having issues with win7 guest. I worked through some diagnostics with rhel engineers and below is their assesment based on my crash report. Looks like vmware engineers need to look into VSockVmciAllowDgram module.

From what I can tell in the backtrace, the vmware process called the following:
-> VSockVmciAllowDgram() <- Provided by vmware-tools package
-> release_sock() <- This is where we failed.
This vmcore will need to be provided to VMWare support in order to begin the troubleshooting process from within the vsock module. We would be more than happy to assist further, but without the source to this module or familiarity with it, we simply are unable to assist without VMWare's assistance.
Unfortunately we cannot see into VMWare's VSockVmciAllowDgram module, so we cannot see what is happening.
