VMware Storage I/O Control Performance measure?

Hi All,

I want to enable the SIOC on my FC LUNs and I am very much confident it will improve the overall VM performance. But before I do that, a big question comes here is how to measure the performance after enabling SIOC to what it was before? Is there any way to compare the performance (like before and after)? How will I prove to customer that performance has improved after enabling SIOC?

Any help please?

Thank you,

Nick

Hi Memaad,

Thanks for the reply. I am fully aware how the SIOC works and all its features and myths. The only thing I am not aware is how to measure and compare its performance with and without it enabled.

How do I prove that SIOC has improved performance. Is there any test that can be performed?

Hi,

One thing that come to my mind is to measure I/O throughput before SOIC enabled and after it is enabled. You can use I/O meter to achieve this.
