Conversion fails at 1%

My conversion attempts fail at 1% over and over.

Here's my setup:

Source: Windows 2008 R2 x64 "physical" machine (Running on Proxmox on a server). I chose physical machine because Proxmox VMs are not in the supported list for virtual machine importing.

Destination: Local disk on my Windows 7 Machine for use in Workstation 10.0.

Upon conversion fail, Converter pops an error dialog with this text:

Virtualization of [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] failed: an error occurred during the conversion: 'converter.fault.NetworkShareConnectFault'

Standalone converter displays this message: "Error: Unable to parse the configuration file of the destination virtual machine."

Logs attached.

After digging through the community and knowledgebase (and a bit of googling), I tried the following to remedy:

1. Disabled UAC on source machine

2. Disabled firewall on source and destination machines

3. Disabled real-time antivirus protection on source and dest machines

4. Turned off simple file sharing on dest machine

5. Enabling file and printer sharing on dest machine

I've been at this all day long and am ready to throw in the towel. Please help?? Smiley Sad

You can't use FTP, only SMB.  Port forwarding doesn't seem to work either.

Are you trying to convert the machine over WAN or something? Converter is designed for LAN only (high latency can break the transfer and there is no resume).

If you can't configure the firewall to allow this connection, think about attaching an external storage to the source machine.

For this conversion to succeed, the agent on the source machine needs to connect to the destination share. The error in the agent's log is:

2013-10-22T06:06:06.330-07:00 [02536 info 'Default'] [ufaUtilsWin32,208] Connecting to Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 on 10.0.0.4 as Chris-PC\Chris

2013-10-22T06:06:30.214-07:00 [02536 error 'Default'] [ufaUtilsWin32,233] File share connection failed - Network error

10.0.0.4 is an internal IP address but the IP of the source machine is not internal. Provide a visible address from the source and try again.

Thanks Plamen!

Can I use an ftp server on my private network as the destination share? Does the converter support port forwarding for the destination share? e.g. Connecting to Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 on 45.456.322.11:22 as Chris-PC\Chris

Regards,

Chris

Converting it locally on wik2k8 seems to be working! 58% complete so far. Thank you!
