      Hi Everyone

      I will start off by aplogising for the simple questions.  I use ESXi rarely, and even less I use unix/linux so this is all new to me.  i would rather ask the questions and learn than guess and stuff up the server.

      I have followed the documentation and have ghettoVCB installed, and I am not at the point of configuration.

      Which file holds the configuration for backups?  is it ghettoVCB.conf?

      I started modifying this file and then ran a dry run and the output is now what I expected.

      2013-10-10 03:16:00 -- info: ERROR: "" is not valid VM input file!

      2013-10-10 03:16:00 -- info: ============================== ghettoVCB LOG END ================================

      First line has an ERROR, I obviously missed something, but not sure what.  I ran ghettoVCB.sh -d dryrun.  On the console I get this output

      2013-10-10 03:42:27 -- info: ERROR: "" is not valid VM input file!

      Where is the VM input file supposed to be and what is its format.  What is the name of the VM's

      In the 5th line, VM_BACKUP_VOLUME = /vmfs/volumes/mini-local-datastore-2/backups is not what I put in the .conf file which makes me wonder if I have the correct file or not.

      Some questions

      When the script does a backup, does it shutdown the guest or can the guest stay running?  This is not clear to me from reading up on ghettoVCB.

      VM_BACKUP_VOLUME - is this where the backups are to be saved?

      ENABLE_NON_PERSISTENT_NFS - please explain this (and associated config lines re NFS).  I understand that its in respects to NFS backup volume, but their is a piece of the puzzle missing.  Does the script backup to a local datastore and backup to a NFS share on a seperate server of enabled.

      Thanks for any help and again apologies for the simple questions

      Mick
