I upgraded from vCenter Server 5.1 Update 1a to update 1b in our DR site yesterday.
After the upgrade I couldn't log in with AD credentials. I logged as admin@system-domain and found all AD permissions in Vcenter were gone.
When I looked at the security configuration in the web client the AD sources were still there and I was able to test the connection successfully.
I found this kb http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=203575...
but none of the messages they mention there were displayed during the upgrade. The upgrade seemed to go very smoothly.
I added back all the permissions and it's functioning ok.
The question I have is about my next upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1 at our main site.
I had no problem upgrading the DR site to 5.1 update1a but now I'm concerned I'll lose all the AD permissions when I upgrade our main site from 5.0 to 5.1 update 1b.
So I'm wondering is this a common problem others have seen with this update?
Is there any way to prevent this from happening?
