Hi Guys,
Just want to your advice, is it possible to achieve Zero downtime for vApp within site.
As I see we can have vSphere HA which will bring VMs up on within 5 minutes.
But I have customer who needs facility to do rolling upgrade and have no downtime even during maintenance window.
can you help me from your experience?
For such solution i have always offered FT (for one vCPU) or in-guest clustering i.e. Linux/MSCS/Veritas/RAC offering.
But none of these are supported by vCloud director.
Then how do we offer such solution.
Appreciate a response on this.
Hope this is the right forum
Thanks,
Preetam
Can the resource/application be load balanced? If it has a back-end database does that support clustering?
Here it is oracle database which needs to be highly available, as application queries the database. I guess my question should have been how to make database highly available within site when vCloud director is front end
Forget the fact it is in a vApp.
If it were a physical server how would you do it? I don't know Oracle but I assume it has a clustering mechanism. Two servers each with a copy of the database, some sync method, some load balance method.
Set the load balance method to only reference host B, ensure database is synced, take A offline for maintenance.
