Esxi host unable to connect Vcenter server 5.1

Hi Support Team,

We are trying to connect the host from Vcenter server. However it is giving the below error message.

""License not available to perform the operation. The host is licensed with VMware vSphere 5 Essentials. The license edition of vCenter Server does not support VMware vSphere 5 Essentials.""

We have explicitly copied the license key in host, also adding the license key while adding the host in Vcenter server. But getting same error message as above.Capture.jpg

Please find the attached screen shot for error messages.

could you please provide the solution for this ASAP?

Thanks & Regards,

Raghav.

Can you try adding ESXi license into vCenter Server before adding the host.

VMware KB: Licensing ESXi 5.x and vCenter Server 5.x

Ok just for clarification have you upgraded both your VC and ESXi host to ESXi 5.1 if yes from which version.

Have you checked you VC license ?

So that why you have this error message Smiley Happy

You need to add your license key into the vcenter (Screenshot bellow)

pastedImage_0.png

And then when you will add an ESX, you will able to assign the proper license key.

A esxi hypervisor free cannot be add to a vcenter. You need to reinstall your esx with esxi licensied version. Then you Will be able to add the host on your vcenter

can you send the screenshot of the licensing page with hidden licenses and expand the product section. it seems esxi is not assigned the concerned license and is shown under evaluation
