VMware Wokstation Hostd-service not running on windows

Hi every one

i reinstall my Windows 8 and install vmware workstation 9.0.2 but each time i try to activate my shared vm in preferences it says " workstation cannot connect to workstation server".

i changed port number again with no luck. i try to remove workstation completely and reinstall it again but it not help it.

the VMwarehostd services start then stop immediatly. the intresting thing that i found if i move the config.xml from hostd folder service start and working fine but again i cant config shared be cause workstation need that file.

i upload my log from hostd

i get this error in my event viewer :

The VMware Workstation Server service terminated with the following service-specific error:

PS: i try to add some vm to shared section but it says workstation server is not available.

Hi Arminmacx,

I had this same problem. Very easy fix Do the following:

- Browse to C:\PRogramData\Vmware\hostd

- Delete datastores.xml

- Start the service "Vmware workstation server"

Should start and work!
