Some details if you please...
What version of vCenter?
Are you deploying via Web Client or fat client?
We are running vCenter 5.1. and all or out hosts are also at 5.1
I have tried from both the fat and web client. Neither one has really been sucessfull.
I would check that the ports are open as required in the install guide - and that VIN can communicate with vCenter server.
See page 13...
The vCenter server and VIM are both on the same VLAN and there is no firewall between them. I just get some errors in the logs in the web client about it failing to register.
com.vmware.vcIntegrity Could not discover my VIN.
I have followed a post to restart a service on the Infra Nave VM, and also rebooted it several times.
Any other ideas? I think I might blow it away and give it one more shot.
One other thing to check, did you configure the vCenter server managed IP address?
Configure vCenter Managed IP address so that the vCenter Infrastructure Navigator virtual appliance can access the vCenter Server. To configure vCenter Managed IP address in the vSphere Client, navigate to Administration > vCenter Server Settings > Runtime Settingsand enter the IP address of the vCenter Server in vCenter Server Managed IP field.
I just took a look and the IP is blank on our vCenter. Will populating this cause any disruption in the environment, I have done some checking and from what i have read it doesnt seem like it will, but im hesitant to do this during normal production hours.
It's safe, but I would never advise making a change outside of a maintenance window and without a good backup!
I hear that!
Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a shot and let you know if it helps to solve my issue.
Configuring the vCenter Managed IP address did indeed resolve the issue. Thanks again for the help!
I am glad to hear that there a solution to your problem!
