vcloud director refuses to start: Caused by: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot run without an instance id.

Hi all,

I'm trying to install vcloud director -- and it is not going well.

I installed it and now it will not start -- what should I do?

Here is the log -- hope that helps!

Thanks in advance!

you probably have other errors.

Can you stop all services, delete any log file in the logs folder for vCloud.  start services.

One the error happens, post the vCloud Container Debug.

Most Likely, you don't have forward + reverse DNS lookup enabled, or you cannot communicate with the database.  These both manifest as instance ID errors, one for not being able to read the DB the other for not having your host name to register to the DB.
