vDS is it one point of failure or not?

Gents Hi

     I would like to know, if I create a vDS  vNetwork Distributed Switch on vCenter 5.1 with hosts 5.1 as well

what happen when the vCenter is crush or down for some reasons??

vCenter is the control plane for a VDS. As such, when vCenter is down you cannot make changes to the switch or VMs using the switch.

The data plane, which is located on each host, continues to function without vCenter.

How is that done?? even IF the vCenter is completly crush?

I heard from VMware Stuff that you have 14 days to recover the vCenter? what if we pass the time ?

The vCenter only manages the configuration changes, once you set something this is sent to all physical hosts and kept local (where also all network IO processing is done). This is sometimes called "hidden vSwitches", that is, we are really using just the ordinary standard vSwitches, but with increased functionality and managementability.
