Hi All,
I'm planning to use the notification package that helps me with the blocking tasks for my vcloud director. But i have an issue configuring the perspective plugin for the same. I have imported the plugin and the istallation is fine. When i access the webview for the first time it said the default page is missing so i went ahead and exported the contents of the perspective webview to a folders under the webview and the default page opened. Once i login into the page using my vco user login it gives an error saying
Webview - An exception has occurred.
You may continue by restarting the session.
i've attached the screenshot of the same. Any clue why its happeneing?
yes its published. but it says default.html or index.html is missing when i open it. If i export it it works but gives that error i mentioned when i login
I'm using vCO 5.1 and i read somewhre that perspective plugin doesn't work on 5.1. Does it?
Exporting the web view is usually for development purposes.
Is the webview published in your webview tab ?
Christophe.

Burke has quite some experience with perspective. I will let him comment on that. He should be online in the next hours.

Yes, I posted a comment on the perspectives plug-in download page stating that it does not work with vCO 5.1 ... I have been unable to get it to consistently work under 5.1 - ESPECIALLY if you are attempting to install the plug-in on a vCO server that was installed and is running with vCenter Server (IE: Simple vCenter Install on Windows) - I Suspect that it may have something to do with the "VDB", but have not invested time into this as the plug-in is an unsupported fling.
With all that said, you really don't need Perspectives for the Notifications package as we had simply included that in our earlier release of the package to provide a nice configuration page. The configuration of the package can be done from Weboperator or even directly in the vCenter Orchestrator Client.
Can you share with me the link or any blog/article for the same?
The Perspectives plugin is really cool and as much as I wish it would work it fails in a couple of ways which are not pleasant. If you plan to use any other AD group aside from the vco admins group the performance is horrible. I think at one point they had said they fixed the issue but in my environment I never saw any improvement. It also does not uninstall cleanly. It leaves around some residue in the database that I needed to clean up by hand ( I think I eventually just ended up scrapping the database and starting fresh). I also encountered some other strange behavior and errors littering my logs when that plugin was present. This was all under the version it was designed to work with.
Its too bad because I think it was really useful and about 90% there if someone could have just fixed the outstanding bugs. Instead I have gone down the route of developing my own custom webviews to essentially do the same thing although not nearly as well.
