Will VCP-DV be updated for 5.1?

There has been some disucssion on this forum on when the VCP-5 (DV) exam will be updated with 5.1 content.  The consensus answer has been, "check the blueprint", if the blueprint is updated, then the exam is updated.

My question is, can we can an authoritative answer from VMware Learning on IF the exam will ever be updated for 5.1?

On the Pearson site (VMware Press) for the VCP 5 certification guide, there is this statement which indicates that the exam will not be updated.

Per VMware Education Services, the current blueprint which controls the questions on the VCP510 test is valid until the next major revision of vSphere software. vSphere 5.1 is NOT a major revision and therefore the blueprint will not change because of its release. Since the blueprint will not change, the test will be unaffected by the release of vSphere 5.1. There will be no questions on the VCP510 test that specifically address capabilities in vSphere 5.1 that are not part of or are different from vSphere 5.0. The reader should prepare for the VCP510 test as if vSphere 5.1 does not exist.

That statement comes from here - http://www.pearsonitcertification.com/store/official-vcp5-certification-guide-9780789749314 see the 'Update' link.

Thanks in advance,

Here's the answer:

The exam has been revised to make it applicable to both 5.0 and 5.1.

Thank you. I would interpret that to mean than anything specific to only 5.1 will not be covered and as usual, use the Blueprint to determine the specifics.

Each individual item in the exam has been reviewed to make it a 5.x item, rather than a 5.0-specific or 5.1-specific item.

I have my exam booked for this Friday and only noticed the blueprint has changed today as I was on the latest prior to this?

Having a minor panic now as I'm struggling as it is with trying to remember the materials, so do I take it to mean that is something is specific to 5.1 but not 5.0 then it won't be tested?  Such as max vCPU is 32 in hwv8 but 64 in hwv9 and Storage vMotion now being in standard in 5.1?

Thx.

What version of the Exam Blueprint do you have?

I just tried to download and cannot get to the Blue Print.

The last version I saw was one dated Oct 2012.

My understanding is that if it is on the blueprint, it is potentially testable.

With that in mind, the previous responses and the FAQ state that the test should be 'version negative' between 5.0 & 5.1

I was working on 1.42 form 10th October, however the latest is 2.1 from 10th Jan.

I've not read the new blueprint, but do know some of the team that were reviewing the items to make the exam 5.x (rather than 5.0-specific or 5.1-specific) - what I've already said in this thread is still true - I've also just added a reply to your own discussion/thread.

I compared the two latest versions (1.42 from October and 2.1 from January).

The two versions seem to be identical ~ for the objectives anyway with the exception of one bullet-point.

Objective 1.5 in the 2.1 version has an objective as follows:

"Identify the various datacenter solutions that interact with vSphere (View, SRM, Lab Manager, etc)."

All other objectives as well as the references appear to be the same between the two.

It is also noteworthy that the new version (2.1 ~ January) still has references for VMware Data Recovery (VDR) in Objective 5.5.

There are no references to VDP.

Given that exam blueprint v2.5 that was released Feb 8, 2013 removes any reference to VSA and vDR, is it safe to presume I won't have any questions on them? IE. can I expend my study efforts elsewhere?

t-minus 5 days and counting....

Yes, go with the blueprint. Good luck.

For anyone who finds their way to this page, as of 2/21/2013 I would still advise knowing vdr and vsa for vcp510.

You've got some questions NOT covered by the actual blueprint?

As of last Thursday, I think it would be advisable for VCP candidates to not ignore VDR & VSA as I did. Objective 1.5 could be interpreted to cover these technologies.

"Identify the various datacenter solutions that interact with vSphere"
