HA didnt work only for 2 VM's

Hi,

we had 20 VM's on a host which was working fine, due to hardware issue host got hung , VM's moved to other host. Only two VM's didnt move we had to manually move those VM's to other hosts.

When we checked error we got this "Failover unsuccessful for <VM> on <host> <cluster> Reason: Unable to access file <unspecified filename> since it is locked."

Please let me know why only two VM's got struct and rest moved to other host.

I did verify settings of VM's which moved and which didnt , only difference i found was VMware tool was not updated in the VM's which didnt move.

The error message indicates that one of the files of those VMs was locked and that is the reason they could not be restarted.

I don't know based on this info, too little to go on. But for most of us it is difficult to troubleshoot these kind of problems anyway as it probably comes down to 1 log entry in a 50k entry log file. So if you really really want to know you could contact support.
