Hi All,
After deploying vApp from template I go to hardware properties of my newly created machine and see only IPv6. This is slightly different than version 5.1 which showed IPv4 by default. Since IPv6 is very confusing for end users I would like to get state where IPv4 is showed by default.
I have tried to disable IPv6 on the guest VM before I have migrated machine as vApp template, but after deploying new vApp I still see IPv6 in hardware properties (see attached screenshoot).
Is there a possibility to do this in vCD 5.1?
Thanks.
This is a bug that happens when IP mode is DHCP and the VM previously had a detected IPv4 address which goes away for whatever reason (i.e. DHCP server becomes unavailable and VM loses its IPv4 DHCP address). The IP showing is the IPv6 link local address. If the DHCP IPv4 address comes back then it should start showing the IPv4 address again.
Ok, if it's a bug is it VMware bug, or MS bug (my DHCP is running on MS OS)? If it's VMware - will this be fixed somehow?
I have rebooted vApp, and re-provisoin vApp again, but still I get IPv6. I cannot tell end users - use this IP to connect with your VM through RDP because our external network do not recognize it.
Any working workaround for my problem?
It's a VCD bug. There's no functional impact. If the VM has no IPv4 address and IP mode is set to DHCP then it will show the IPv6 link local. If VM gets an IPv4 address then the IPv4 will show in VCD.
Please file an SR and give me the SR number so we can prioritize this fix in the patch release
I'm having same issue too. Have you guys released any patch yet?
Thanks,
Madhu
Since no customers have filed an SR about this problem, there is no plan to fix it in a patch release
