Use of host storage

Hi All

I just need a really quick pointer about VSPhere 5.1 bare metal hypervisor.  I want to build virtual machines using .ISO images instead of install CDs. To keep the build process efficient, I want to store the .ISO files on the bare metal hypervisor host itself, rather than a network attached client. Please can someone point me to some docs on this or give me a hint.  Fairly new to this game at the moment and drowning in information.

Many thanks

Moon.

Hi

You can create a local VMFS datastore on your host using the free space on the local disk. Once you have that you can use the VI client to upload your ISO files to it. Once on the datastore they can be mounted to your virtual machines (configured in the VMs cd rom settings).

This details how to create a datastore for your ISOs, though you may have already done this if you've gotten to the point of creating your VMs.

Thanks
