I wonder if the code is looking for the original name of the vmkernel port group. You have modified the default names. VSA Manager may treat that as a host that is no longer greenfield.
Can you look at the more complete error that is found in the following log file:
VSA Manager also may require 4 NICs per Host to achieve the recommended redundancy.
Just an FYI.
thanks for your answer:
1. yes i changed the vkernel port names.. ok, so i think to reinstall the esxi host to have a greenfield.
2. now i know that i need 4 nic's ( i have 6 nic's in the server, but i read that an 4 nic card did not work)
so, now i have a new question:
can i use the 2 singel nic's and 2 of the 4 nic card and how should i configure the esxi?
all 4 nic's on one ip, configured in the console?
That alternate NIC arrangement should work.
Did you ever look at the log I mentioned previously to confirm the more detailed error message?
I have the same problem when I try to configure my VSA cluster this message appear: java.security.InvalidParameterException : Invalid gateway: null.
2 ESX(i) host version 5.5 & VSA 5.5.
each host has 2 NIC witch 2 ports
My network configuration is by default like is it when you install from scratch.
Does anyone find the cause of this problem?
this solved the problem, the name should indeed be "management network" The documentation say two things. first it tells you to name it management netwerk, later it tells you to create 5 port groups with the first named Management. That was my problem.
