After booting up today, my ESXi 5.0 server is stuck on a screen with this error message today. I had installed ESXi 5.0 on a 1GB USB drive, all my VMs resides on a RAID disk array on the server. The RAID array is intact with no errors.

Does this message indicate my USB drive became corrupted somehow? If so, is there any way to repair the drive (ex. do a fsck to repair the filesystem of the usb drive on a linux system)? Is this error a sign my USB hard drive is failing? It's not very old and I thought ESXi doesn't write much anything to it since it's just used as the boot drive. Is a USB thumb drive not the best device to depend on for a esxi boot drive?

If I can't repair it, I assume I will need to reinstall ESXi on the USB drive? Will there be any issues getting it to recognize the existing datastore on the RAID array and load in all the existing VMs on that datastore? Thanks for any help!
