ESXi 5 and 10TB Raid5

i have a perc 5i with 6 2tb drives on it, can i use this on esxi without having to reformat the array first??

It will give you information on ESXi configuration maximums.

You can have a 10TB storage but a datastore can only be of 2TB maximum hence you will have to create partitions of your 10TB storage into 2TB sizes.

Hi Nikhil,

With vSphere 5, I believe the maximum datastore size is 64TB.

The maximum size of an individual vmdk is 2 TB - 512 bytes.

For OP, you can use the entire array without formatting as long as you are satisfied with the raid configuration.

Hi Tony,

Yes you are right in ESXi 5 the storage limit is 64TB as per the document I sent earlier of configurations maximum.
