Convert Oracle DB (RAC) from Physical to Virtual

I have Oracle DBs with the below details:

• Oracle 10g
  
• RAC
  
• Linux Redhat 5.5
  
• Itanium Processor
  

Currently I'm looking to virtualize these DBs. Is there any best practices or a way to start this task?

The Itanium part will be hard - you wont be able to do it without downtime, because you have to convert to x86.

I will need to change the Operating System? Rebuild it totally?
