Keyboard input not accepted in Debian VM GUI

    mfelker Expert

I have created a Debian VM using  the TP.  I'm sure I typed the password for root and the use correctly (they were both accepted by the insatller and mistyping was detected).

VM booted normally but at the gdm login screen neither the user or the root paasword were accepted  (auth failure).  However in rescue mode CLI  I could change the password for the user and root  (UNIX password) and they were accepted.

Has anybody else had a problem with the keyboard input in Debian (or another OS)

Not a WS problem.  During the install of Debian 6.0.5 (latest stable) in expert mode it now asks you whtther  you want to install all generic drivers or just targeted ones that it thinks you need.  The first time I choose targeted because it said the generic  would have a much larger initrd which might not load.  Eveidently there was some keyboard driver that needed tol be installed for the OS to accept keyboard input in a GUI.

          Workinig normally now
