Adding CPU & Memory Failed - File <unspecified filename> was not found

Hi All,

I have a problem where I could not add more CPU and Memory to one of my VMware Host. It always says Reconfigure virtual machine - Status: File <unspecified filename> was not found.

I do not know which file has been missing.

The problem happened last night when I figured myself out that the vmdk file for this host was gone. All I did, was creating the new vmdk file by editing the new vmdk to point to my -flat.vmdk file. I could Power it On, all OK. However, I could not add more resources on this.

Below is the Task from my vCenter Server (version 5.0.0):

Reconfigure virtual machine
<server_name>
File <unspecified filename> was not found
Administrator
<vCenterServer_name>
Requested Start Time: 6/06/2012 9:36:29 AM
Start Time: 6/06/2012 9:36:29 AM
Completed Time: 6/06/2012 9:36:31 AM

I am thinking, one of the files has been missing some information. But, I do not know which one, as I did open every single files and read it line by line. I could not find a clue at all.

Please help me out, as I need urgently add more resources on this

Hi All,

I do sincerely apologise for forgetting about this ticket.

I had fixed the issue long time ago, and totally forogot to post the answer.

All I did to fix the situation was creating a new WMware guest and point to the existing hard drive. This simple workaround fixed the issue for good.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.
