XP frequently hangs with vmdb error before eventually resuming

MacBookPro on OSX Lion 10.7.4

VM is XP Pro running in Unity, 1 core, 1GB of RAM. Fusion 4.1.2 but it's been happening with all version of Fusion 4 and used to happen with Fusion 3 as well.

Typically, I have a single Office program running. Right now it's Word. I have two documents open. Occasionally, switching between them causes a long hang - more than a minute. Eventually they come back. But slowly. This happens with Word or Excel, though those are really the only programs I run in the VM. This has been happening for a long time. Usually I just go browse reddit or something or go refill my coffee. But it's annoying - it's precisely these types of errors with Parallels that led me to Fusion in the first place.

The vmware-vmfusion.log shows a lot of this when these hangs / freezes happen - guest app info hash errors and then VMDB errors:

Oh and often the Word windows will disappear completely while this is going on. I can see the XP taskbar that shows the Word programs still there but the windows don't show. And then the Word icon in the OSX dock will close, reopen, and then the windows will reappear. It's like XP or Fusion decides to kill Word and restart it in order to get things moving again.

Does ending the program from time to time would help? It seems weird though..

No, this happens when it's been open for twenty minutes or when it's been open for six hours. There's no consistency to it, it just happens whenever I do.... something.
