Upgrade to 702118 killed HP DL360 Gen8 NIC Drivers

I installed ESXi 5.0 U1 using the HP customized ISO image on a HP DL360 Gen8 server, which has the four-port NIC LOM option. Life was fine, then I updated the host to build 702118 via the ESXcli command. After the reboot none of the four NICs are recognized and on the DCUI screen it says: No compatible network adapter found.

Anyone else experience this problem? Besides reloading the server with the original HP customized ISO, is there a way to roll back the NIC driver?

Hi,

I made customized ESXi 5.0U1 from original iso via this tools:
http://v-front.blogspot.com/p/esxi-customizer.html
with driver VMware ESXi 5.0 Driver CD for Broadcom NetXtreme I Gigabit Ethernet Driver 3.123b.v50.1
(tg3-3.123b.v50.1-682322.zip)

After boot and update to build 702118  (by Update Manager) I have no problem.

I decided to rebuild the entire HP Customized ISO from scratch based on build 702118. I documented the process here:

I'll just reload the server with this image, instead of troubleshooting what went wrong with the upgrade.

For reference, you can always rollback your last update by pressing Shift+R during the initial boot.

You will receive a menu asking you to confirm it.
