Do you perhaps refer to VMFS metadata?
Hi,
metadata includes the custom properties, descriptions, tags, owner, cost center, etc regarding a Virtual Machine. If there is some problem with the host, you may need to remove the host from the management network of VCenter server and then add the host back again. In this case you can save the metadata and then possibly restore them back.
I've come across an important link which tells you how to Save and Restore these Metadata to virtual machines:

I doubt that there exists a consense on what VM metadata actually is - folks may use the term to specify VMFS-specific details such as exact location of the blocks on the filesystem.
Others may use the term to specify data that is written to the vmx and vmdk files ....
Can you rephrase your question ?
I have read my articles in that they states if i SVMotion one VM from one host to another , it will first moves the VM metadata then start the .vmdk file copy. is VM metadata is log files,.vmx,.nvram,.vmsd, .vswp file ????

The metadata for a VM contains information about the VM (such as the name, description, and Universally Unique Identifier (UUID), VM configuration (such as the amount of virtual memory and the number of virtual CPUs), and information about the use of resources on the host or Resource Pool (such as Virtual Networks, Storage Repository, ISO Library, and so on). Most metadata
configuration data is written when the VM is created and is updated if you make changes to the VM configuration.

.vmdk VM's metadata/descriptor virtual disk file
Hi,
Metadata is data about data. It is descriptive information about a particular data set, object, or resource, including how it is formatted, and when and by whom it was collected.
In term of Vmware the set of files together of virtual machine (configuration ,swap and log files) can be said as metadata.
vm metadata is all vm files except flat.vmdk files For example .vmx, .nvram, .log etc these are vm metadata files
