I want to upgrade VCenter and rebuilt hosts to version 5.
Then upgrade view 4.5 to 5
Rebuilding the hosts: will view be able to connect again after the upgrade?
Does it matter if the hosts are rebuilt?
View only needs the VCenter server name.
vSphere 5 is not compatible with View prior to 5.0. You will want to upgrade your View infrastructure first.
Let's suppose we did that. Then when upgrading VCenter, we rebuilt the hosts rather than upgrade them.
What would that break in View?
I understand that I may have to recreate resource pools in the hosts that View uses...
If you upgrade View first, then do your vSphere infrastructure and rebuild the hosts, I don't foresee any problems. I'd upgrade vCenter and do a fresh install on the hosts 1 by 1 adding them back. Make sure you follow the Upgrade Guide.
