Login failed to new vCenter server from VI client

Hello,

my customer has moved vcenter db (sql express) from old vcenter to the new one, following the http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=585044....

The old vcenter had a different hostname than the new one.

Now he cannot connect from vi client to the new vcenter (see attached screenshot with error message).

It seems that some component is trying to connect to the old hostname.

How is possibile to solve the issue ?

Thanks in advance

Regards,

Davide

I have this same type of problem and also looking for any resolution. Is there any page on this site where I can read more about vCenter?

Hello,

that post is not useful for me; SQL protocols are correctly configured.

The logfile report following:

[ServerAccess] Attempting to connect to service at itmilbcktmp.domain.loc:8443
[2012-04-24 12:13:40.612 02320 error 'App'] [HttpUtil::ExecuteRequest] Error in sending request - No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

where itmilbcktmp.domain.loc is the old vcenter

Hi,

Sorry, you´re using the same IP in both vcenters (old and new) ? if yes, check in dns if don´t have two entires of ip to different hostnames.

can you try to register the vCenter using vpxd.exe and see if it works:

<Install Directory>\VMware\Infrastructure\VirtualCenter Server>vpxd.exe -h

just a thought...

Hi,

What is the version of your vcenter ?

Are you able to connect directly to the ESX Host through vSphere client?

vCenter 4.1 U1

There is a Data Recovery plugin installed. I I think this could be the problem, but I'm not sure and I don't know ho to uninstall it.
