Creating a bootable CD with ESXi 4.1

I am trying to create a bootable CD with ESXi 4.1 so I can re-build a server. What is the best way to do this using roxio creator?

Do you have the installation media in the ISO format? That is what to use to burn the cd.

How aditional info, after create or point .ISO in virtual machine.

Use VI Client to edit the VM settings in the Boot Options (Options tab) to enable Force BIOS Setup -so that the next time the virtual machine boots, it will force entry into the BIOS setup screen. This will give you plenty of time to hit on the Connect CD/DVD button to connect your Client Device CD/DVD and exit from the BIOS screen

I downloaded the ESXi 4.1, update 1, iso file from the VMware website. I burned the file to CD using Roxio and attempted to boot up the server but had no luck booting from the CD. I did ensure the bootable order has 'boot from CD' listed first. Roxio CD creator has a "make CD Bootable" option but requires you to add .img file etc. Can I simply point this too the ESXi 4.1 iso file as well and burn both files onto the CD and attempt to boot that way?

You cannot just burn the .iso to a CD/DVD you have to create a CD/DVD from the iso.

Roxio will do it but I am not sure of the exact process.  I use a  freeware tool called ISO Recorder which you can find here http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

did not understand. what you need to do ?
If you need to reinstall the VMware ESXi server, you simply download the. ISO and burn a CD, the ISO is already bootable. Simply put on the server and select the boot in the bios to Cd be the first option.
If you need to reinstall any OS in a virtual machine from you Edit the VM and the points. ISO if you need to force the boot to change the boot sequence as I mentioned above.

Sounds like the issue is that he is just burning the iso to the CD. Basically the copying the iso as is to the CD so that when you browse the CD you see the iso.

You have to "create" a CD from the iso.  There should be a way to do that with Roxio or you can use the ISO Recorder I mentioned in the earlier post.

All, I just ended up using a free software product called ImgBurn. This worked perfectly and allowed me to burn the image to CD and upload on server. Thanks for the assistance!
