ESX5i CPU Utilization

vmware.PNG

Assuming application is CPU senstive ,what is the utilization of CPU in the above esxop conole. The CPU load average of 1min,5,min,15 min is showing above 1 .That means the current CPU is not enough ? .

or

I should consider the CPU utilization as 76% by looking at Core utlization % ?

or

I should consider the CPU utilization as 54% by looking at PCPU Utilization% ?

I am guessing that , I should look at always Core utilization to know exact Utilization !! .Any help is greatly appreicated

Thanks

if you want to check if CPU is constrained, look feor CPU ready cycles, if the number is high it means vm's are affected by cpu

You seem to have good usage of your CPUs, if these numbers are typical you should not have to worry, however as noted above check the "ready time" of the Virtual Machines (%RDY). This should not be above 5% and indicates that your VMs is not getting enough CPU time.

If the Ready Time is low, but the total CPU usage is quite high then everything is fine. You are using your hardware and all VMs are getting the CPU processing time they want.
