Hi,
I have a PC that runs Intel® Xeon® Processor 5130 (4M Cache, 2.00 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB). I have enabled VT, and able to install 64 bit OS. I am running esxi5 and vcenter5. Host Configured for FT says No because the host CPU does not support hardware Virtualization. Can someone confirm this CPU support hardware VT? and if so why is the esx host showing it is not
Are you running ESXi 5.0 on bare hardware or in a VM?
http://ark.intel.com/products/27216/Intel-Xeon-Processor-5130-(4M-Cache-2_00-GHz-1333-MHz-FSB)
Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x) | Yes |
I am running on bare hardware and have executed the command on esxi5 console that shows the CPU has VT enable and available for use. returned a value of 3
My processor is not listed here, so probably that's the reason, but it has VT enabled and esxi5 recongnizes that
Can you post a screenshot of the error message?
I am not getting any error messages. I just observed on the summary tab of my esxi5 host it says Host Configured for FT No. The only reason been Host CPU does not support HW VT which my host does support
The message I would expect for your CPU is "CPU does not support HV Replay." That is, although HV is supported, replay using HV is not.
Exact message says " Host CPU does not support Hardware Virtualization which is required for replay" What exactly does this mean. Will my CPU support FT or not?
Unfortunately the CPU you use does not support FT. Please read e.g. http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/virtualization-pro/masters-guide-to-vmware-fault-tolerance... (II. Power to the processors) which explains the CPU's Record/Replay feature.
