File Level Backup?

We have the following scenario;

Our VM's have the IP range of 10.100.10.X

Our VMware Data Recovery module has the IP 192.168.253.24

My understanding is that in order to perform file level backup the VM's need to talk to the recovery module via IP, are there any other backup solutions where this is not a requirement?

You could try the 3rd party software named Veeam. With this software you can do FLR without a problem.

Presuming you run windows system, Veeam can (if wanted) make an index on your VM and if you start a FLR you will get a browserwindow with all your files.

This works too for Linux systems but it will start an extra VM for the dir browsing.

Do you mean File Level Restore? You can install FLR client on any Windows/Linux machine with access to VDR. In Advanced mode you can browse backups of all VM's.

Hi Rhidian,

Instead of using third party toold I will suggest us inbuilt tool FLR and agree with racom.
