Active memory usage for a empty VM

Hi,

I just deployed a VM and configured the guest memory to be 10GB.

However, i have not yet installed any OS on this VM.

I simply powered on the VM and navigated to the "resource allocation" tab of the VM and saw that the active memory is 7.5 GB out of the 10 GB.

I am trying to understand the reason for this and as i mentioned earlier that there is no OS but still it says the active memory is 7.5 GB.

so who could be using this memory at that point in time.? (please see the attached screenshot)

Any idea why this figure ?

By design for ESXi 5.0 refer this VMware KB but it make sense too for your case (75%).
