Tragic read speed after switch to software iSCSI

I used Qlogic HBA & could get backup speeds in a region of MB/min 2000, but after swapping to software iSCSI (using BCM5709 dual nics with Jumbo Frames) it went down to ~ 642 MB/min (at least 3 x less)

Nothing else changed in the setup (only the NICs used for iSCSI)

Anybody has any suggestions how to improve it?

As it turned out, one of the VM Network cards decided to play up & auto negotiated to a stuggering 100/full (as opposed to expected 1000/full)

And the backup was running on this very connection, making it painful

So it was not an iSCSI setup issue after all! (makes me feel better)
