Must stop/restart agent to detect that a server has been restarted.

Hi,

I have a Server, resource type “Sun JVM 1.5” that is monitoring a program that I stop and restart. I have set the collection interval to 1 minute for availability. HQ detects when the process goes away in a couple minutes. It does NOT detect when the server has been restarted. Isn’t that the job and a monitoring program? I have waited for 15 minutes; the availability shows red the full time even though the server is running. If I stop and start the agent, HQ detects the program is running.

We are using HQ version 2.7.0

Thanks
Bob

Hey Bob, sounds like this bug from a couple of months ago:
http://jira.hyperic.com/browse/HHQ-180

You should be able to workaround a few ways, one of:
- export HQ_JAVA_HOME=/path_to_a_1.5_jre
And restart the agent so it uses the 1.5 jre rather than the builtin 1.4

- apply the patch attached to bug ticket above

- upgrade to 2.7.6
