"Event ID 1000 from source vmauthd" is being logged once every 10 seconds !

I'm getting this logged in my Windows Application Log once every 10 seconds.  This happens regardless of whether or not I have VMware Player or Workstation 8 running.

"

The description for Event ID 1000 from source vmauthd cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
2012-01-11T13:49:37.124-07:00| vthread-3| I120: Service being interrogated....
the message resource is present but the message is not found in the string/message table

"

My system is a Windows 7 x64.

Any suggestions ?

Craig

Does not the "dirty hack" also prevent VMware workstation from running?
