Blank vmx files on replicated volumes

We have been doing a poor man's SRM for DR tests for a while now. We create flexclones of replicated Netapp volumes at our DR site, mount them on the hosts and then run a script to register the vms. This has worked fine until recently. We have had issues the last couple of times with the vmx files for some machines being blank. The datastores are all NFS. It would seem these would be the least likely file type to be trashed during the snapshot process as they are rarely being written to.  Has anyone else seen this? Any idea as to what would cause it?

I had similar problem on HP XP array. I have found the issue during regular SRM tests. In adition, the problem occurs everytime, but each time for different vmx. I really don't know what causes the problem, but I'm handling this situation by simply copying .vmx files to DR site and placing them on a LUN, where I am storing iso and template files. In case of replication failure, I have always got my vm config files on hand Smiley Happy
