Can't Install VMWare Tools on Lion guest

Hi all,

I just set up OS X Lion as a guest VM.  I am  running Lion 10.7.2 on the host (a Mac Pro).  When I try to install  VMWare Tools on the Lion VM by launching the installer package, I get  the message: "You can't open the applicaiton Install VMWare Tools because PowerPC applications are no longer Supported."

I am running Fusion 4.1.1.

Host: Mac Pro running 10.7.2 Lion

Guest:: 10.7.2 Lion

VM OS setting: Mac OS X 10.7 64-bit

I have a second Lion guest VM that I installed Lion Server on.  But, I accidentally set the VM OS setting to "Mac OS X 10.6 Server 64-bit" even though About Mac shows 10.7.2 Lion.

What could be going on?  Is Fusing loading the PowerPC version of VMWare Tools on 10.7 64-bit installs?  Or does Lion Server install Rosetta?  Or, the OS setting of 10.6 Server 64-bit got Fusion to load the correct version of VMWare Tools?

Thanks!

Steven

Very strange.  Get Info on the file "Install VMWare Tools.pkg" shows the application is Intel.  Yet, the icon is overlaid by a white circle with a slash through it.

I got the same message today. Copying the VMWare Tools package to the desktop (of the virtualized Lion) and launching the installer from the desktop solved the problem, as far as I am concerned.
