Guest operating support - Hardware 7 and / or 8 support ?

Whilst some online documentation says 8 is supported (otherwise you wouldn't even have the option to choose it I suppose), some sheets say version 7 :

http://pubs.vmware.com/vcloud-director-1-5/user/GUID-132B96E8-2E0A-41E1-B701-0E3C213403AE.html

Can I assume it means "7 or newer" ?

I see what you are talking about in the docs, it looks like it is supported to me. The KB below provides details on the implementation and reccomendations for doing so. This is not an official answer, but from the looks of it, I would say it is supported.

In the meantime, there is a good KB on how to implement what you are talking about:

//http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2005...

I suspect this just needs updating with vCD 1.5 seeing as almost everything on that list says version 7 and vCD 1.5 does support version 8, but let's just be sure if someone from GSS chimes in.

To be honest, the whole documentation side of things is pathetic ... I don't even want to start talking API documentation here Smiley Sad

I hear you man, I do trust me.

There is also this KB:

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=200597...

This does not show HW level, BUT it does say vSphere 5.0......which is HW 8.....so one could possbly connect the dots.

What is more important is what Guests are supported in vCD vs just vSphere.  If you do a side by side there may be some supported on VS 5.0 natively and less on vCD.  This KB looks a bit more up to date.
