vmware converter unable to obtain

I am currently trying to transfer some of my virtual machines from an old ESX 3.0 box to a ESXi 5 box

They are all windows server 2003 machines, and I am using vmware converter version 5.

Everytime I get the error  "Unable to obtain hardware information for the selected machine"

Could you try to disable SSL over NFC as described here: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1836705#1836705

Tried this, and while it gave me a glimmer of hope for about two seconds, I received the same error.

I think Converter 5.0 does not support ESX 3.0. Can you try using Converter 4.3?

I think the question both Ulli and RParker are asking (and I asked myself, too) - is "Why is the OP using Converter at all?"  The machines ALREADY are VMware virtual ones!

umm..converter has nothing to do with whether or not it supports ESX 3.0 (which it does), he is doing the conversion ON the VM guest OS, treating it like a Physical machine anyway, so the version of host is moot.
